The artistry of the Joseph Webb Quartet embodies a realm of musical mixes saturated in the lyrics of rebirth and the affirmation of SELF. Relentless in the art of genre mash-up, each composition is a reconstruction of the genre in which it is rooted. Your Ting Revisited carries the Funk—with its quirky soul-house melody interlaced beneath the verse, and disco-like chorus of earnest admonition from the artist to disregard the skeptics to one’s vision.  This, along with most–if not all of Webb’s compositions, encourages the healthy daily dosage of self encouragement infused in repetitive mantras that undeniably birth accomplishment in the speaker. Your Ting hits with certain urgency, then morphs into a deep ooze of straight ahead jazz with the walking baseline of Nate Jones, Alex Marcelo’s contemplative keys, and the crash of swinging cymbals by Shawn Kelly. BBQ Dreams Revisited represents hip-hop-soul fusion with a baseline worthy of familiar Seventies soul classics. This song is a texture of introspective repetition, alliteration and metaphors of observation from the daily grind, delivered by the Quartet within a laid back flair. Spirits Song is more soul-bop, with a straight hip hop break beat and chord progressions that could’ve been created with D’Angelo’s Rhodes or Roy Ayers’ xylophone. Romaine HeartReach. Stretch. Be all you can be. Not ashamed to stand alone and sing… This creation in song becomes trancelike as you digest each lyric. Inclusive of all things positive, relatable, desirable, relevant, loving (both eros&agape), spiritually uplifting, gratifying and nutritionally necessary, the Joseph Webb Quartet is the musical semblance of the Griot in rhythm & rhyme. is holding down the pop/rock/trip-hop groove with a shout out to jazz notable Charlie Mingus throughout the chorus of the song. This lyrical arrangement becomes a quasi-meditative chant in the similar tone of inspired-self-determination:
